IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM ELECTIONS

NOTICE OF A SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF THE BEN HILL COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS AND
REGISTRATION

Notice is hereby given that on the 31st day of December, 2020, at 3:00 PM, the Ben Hill County Board of Elections and Registration will hold a special called meeting at _Ben Hill County Board of Elections_602 S. Grant St. Fitzgerald Ga 31750 at 3:00 p.m._.  Special circumstances exist that require this meeting to be held with less than 24 hours’ notice because the Board received a Temporary Restraining Order in Majority Forward and Gamaliel Warren Turner, Jr. v. Ben Hill County Board of Elections et al.) on December 29, 2020 and legal counsel shall attend a hearing regarding the same matter on December 30, 2020 at 10:00 AM.

The purpose of this meeting is to enter into executive session to discuss pending litigation with legal counsel.

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 50-14-1(d), on the 29 th  day of December, 2020, this notice was forwarded to the Ben Hill County legal organ and any local broadcast or print media outlet located in Ben Hill County that that has provided a written request within the past calendar year.

The Board of Elections provides the following services for Ben Hill County Residents

The Board of Elections registers all eligible citizens to vote, provide free voter id’s, and maintains districting maps for Ben Hill County and the City of Fitzgerald. We also conduct all Federal, State and County wide elections, maintain election results, and uphold election laws regarding registration and voting.

To register to vote you must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Be a legal resident of the Ben Hill County
  • Be at least 17 1/2 years of age to register and 18 years of age to vote
  • Not be serving a sentence for conviction of a felony involving moral turpitude
  • Have not been found mentally incompetent by a judge

Any registered VOTER with questions regarding their provisional ballots may contact your local elections office. You may also contact the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office at 1-844-537-5375.
